City Spotlight

Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is the second largest city in Pennsylvania, but it is full of just as many attractions and historical sites as the largest city. Once a hub of steel manufacturing, Pittsburgh earned it's industrial nickname the hard way. Today, a look around at all of the bridges and towering buildings will concretize the name Steel City. Pittsburgh is now a base of many financial services, healthcare development and technology companies. The city truly has so much to offer its visitors with a perfect balance of art, history, sports, dining and so much more.

There are so many things to see and do at Station Square, a riverfront favorite to many seeking fun, food and fan gear. There are several restaurants, stores and entertainment venues to enjoy. During a large portion of the year, there are even light and music shows every twenty minutes at Station Square, thanks to the Fountain at Bessemer Court. For evening entertainment, stop in at one of the many nightclubs or catch a show at the comedy club.

A ride on the Duquesne Incline is absolutely imperative and should be timed as close to dusk as possible for an

intimate view of the city. The incline rails, originally used to transport cargo, scale up the side of Mount Washington. Once you reach the top of the mountain, there are several restaurants and ice cream shops to visit. In addition, there are observation points located at the mountain ridge that give an amazing view of the city, especially the Golden Triangle.

The business district of the downtown area is referred to as the Golden Triangle, as it is situated like a triangle between the Allegheny River and the Monongahela River. There are various theaters and several amazing restaurants in this area that should definitely be visited. Anyone interested in a riverfront walk should find the gorgeous fountain and sitting area that is located at the point of the Golden Triangle, where the two rivers combine and form the Ohio River.

There are many other exciting things to do and gorgeous sites to see in Pittsburgh that one visit just isn't enough. This city has so much to offer and there really is something for everyone between the sporting events, museums and shopping centers. It is truly amazing how a city so rich in history can be filled with so many attractions for various age groups today.
